About us
I’m Ethan, and together with my partner Kyndi, we run Herd About.
We’ve always had a strong interest in animals and the environment, and our home is shared with a range of mostly rescued animals. What started as a small herd of goats and sheep as pets, quickly outgrew our single property.
Instead of stopping there, we looked for a way to put them to work. That’s how Herd About came about—turning our herd into an eco-friendly effective approach to vegetation management.

Our herd
Our team is a mixed herd of goats and sheep, each selected for their role in effective vegetation management. Our herd mostly consists of rescued animals and we give them a second chance at a life with purpose. Others have been surrendered to Herd About, as their previous owners were unable to continue with their care.
Animal welfare is a big priority for us—every animal is well cared for, known by name and unique personalities. Our herd are provided with regular hoof care, vaccinations, supplementation & drenching as required.

Our Setup
Transport
We use a large stock trailer to safely move our animals to and from sites. This can also serve as shelter for our animals when left at the site to ensure they have protection from the weather.
Fencing
Our goats are trained on our portable electric fences. Using solar powered portable energisers and mesh netting.
Water
We provide a water trough that can be either connected to a provided water tank or connected into a water system to ensure water if needed
